Alejandro

Run by head chef Alejandro, cuisine with exquisite presentation and bursting with flavours made this restaurant an absolute delight and an experience in itself. The restaurant sourced ingredients for its food locally; advantageously positioned next to the port of Roquetas de Mar, where local chefs can choose from a wide variety of freshly caught seafood to use in their dishes.

Fuengirola

Only 25km from Malaga International Airport is the town of Fuengirola – one of the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol. Easily accessible by road, rail or bus, it is not difficult to see why this buzzing cosmopolitan town on the Mediterranean is the number one choice for so many.

Botanical Garden

The hothouse has 130 plant species from the Canary Islands, divided into three areas by climate: moist such as geranium; desert plants, such as spiny and succulent (cacti and aloes); and a diverse group which includes ferns and Cycads (palms and ferns), as well as many native Spanish plants, also found in the Andalucian mountains and the Balearic islands.

Night Clubs

Known throughout Spain for its fabulous nightlife, the Costa del Sol and parts of the centre of Malaga, Seville and Granada come alive after dark. Formal 'nightclubs' or 'discotheques' have largely been overtaken in popularity by Music Bars which also offer music and dancing.

Granada Airport - Car Hire

When staying in Granada city, you may wish to visit other areas around Granada province. Popular places to visit from Granada city include the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort, and the coast of the Costa Tropical and its beaches.  There many landmarks and monuments to see, and to make sure you see as many of these as possible we recommend hiring a car. As with most tourist areas car hire offices are available at the airport.

Barbate Beaches

The municipality of Barbate boasts some of the most beautiful beaches on the Costa de la Luz inlcuding los Caños de Meca and Zahara de los Atunes. The golden sand of Playa de Zahora stretches from Playa del Palmar to the Trafalgar lighthouse at the Cabo Trafalgar. The beach is flat and rocky but protected from the strong winds in this area making it popular with those who enjoy swimming in the sea.

Acánthum restaurant (Closed)

Acánthum had a special distinction as Huelva province's first restaurant to be awarded a Michelin Star, under the direction of head chef Xanty Elías. A varied, innovative and carefully created menu is available to peruse in Acánthum which includes a range of culinary delights from fish and meat dishes to tantalising sweets. Closed in 2021

Iglesia de San Pedro

Huelva's oldest parish church, the Iglesia de San Pedro, was constructed in the 15th and 16th centuries on a hilltop site of a mosque and next to the remains of a medieval fortress. It faces a pleasant palm tree-lined square, the Plaza San Pedro.

The Monastery of San Jeronimo, Granada

The monastery was originally founded in Santa Fé by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella during the reconquest of Granada. Following this success it was relocated to the city centre. Construction of this Renaissance Roman Catholic monastery and church began in 1504 and 1519 respectively.

Seville City - Fascinating Fact 6

Visitors to Seville will notice a symbol on many signs around the city, from taxis and buses to sewer covers, consisting of the letters ´NO8DO´. This is the city´s logo, and legend says that it originates from the 13th-century coat of arms awarded to Sevilla by King Alfonso X the Wise.

San Roque Beaches

San Roque is an unusual municipality in that it has some coastline to the west of La Linea and Gibraltar, where Guadarranque beach and Puente Mayorga are located, and some to the east with Alcaidesa Beach, Sotogrande Beach, Torreguadiaro Beach and Cala Sardina.

Hotels - Family Hotels on the Costa del Sol

A selection of hotels on the Costa del Sol which are especially well-equipped for, and welcoming to, families. In general this means that various age groups and their needs are catered for, from babies, toddlers and children to teenagers. In terms of facilities, these family hotels will usually offer things such as cots, baby baths, and bottle-warmers, restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, and outdoor play areas.

Wakeboard and Cableski

Marbella Wakeboard center ( was called Cable Ski Marbella) offers a unique water sport experience to young and old. Beginner to Advanced can have fun and a sense of achievement through a well designed and safe activity. Various equipment is provided, ranging from beginner’s kneeboards to the more advanced wakeboards and water skis for the extreme wake boarder and water-skier.

Glass and Crystal Museum

Glass and Crystal Museum opened in 2009, has around 700 pieces of glass, dating from Phoenician times to the 20the century. The museum is housed in an 18th-century casa palacio in the centre of Malaga, with spacious patios and gardens, is furnished like a private home, with antique sofas, rugs, mirrors and paintings, and cabinets for the glass.

Things to see

Torre de Meca, a 15th-century watchtower, was built as part of a coastal defensive system to warn of a Berber pirate invasion. Watchkeepers would either light a fire or send smoke signals to neighbouring towers to communicate danger. Just outside of Caños de Meca, there is footpath that leads to it; see our section on walks.

Primavera Trompetera Festival, Jerez - 2025

The 2024 edition of Primavera Trompetera Festival was due to take place at the motor racing Circuito de Jerez 22nd and 23rd March 2024. However due to the adverse weather conditions in the form of great rainstorm the event was cancelled. 2025 was not held.

Torre de Calahonda Watchtower of Mijas Costa

Torre de Calahonda is has also been referred to as Cala Honda, Calaona, Calaonda, Calahorra and Lancón. The tower and was completed in 1575 with a budget of 560 ducados as part of the King Filipe II watchtower construction programme. It is located on a promontory in the western reaches of Mijas Costa; Calahonda not far from boundary with Marbella and Cabopino Marina.
