Sierra Mágina Natural Park

The rugged Sierra Mágina Natural Park covers 19,900ha of rocky, steep limestone terrain, with precipitous cliffs and high summits that are often snow-capped in winter. Evocatively named by the Moors as the mountain of the spirits, the Sierra has a fascinating history glimpsed in its prehistoric cave paintings and defensive architecture built by warring Christians and Muslims. In the 10th century it harboured Moorish rebel leaders and much later, bandits. Its remote corners also provided a refuge for bears, wolves and the pardel lynx.

Various tourist boards have created a number of themed routes (called “Ruta de“ in Spanish) to help tourists explore the area with respect to a certain to area of cultural or historic interest. Some do make for a interesting and holiday and educational and largely natural drive.

Palacio del Marqués de Contadero

Cristina Hoyos

Cristina Hoyos was born in the Alfalfa district of Seville on the 13th June 1946, and she has without doubt, made an undeniable imprint on the world of flamenco dance. As a child she would dance in the streets of Alfalfa and, when she was old enough, she started to perform in the many flamenco taverns of the area.

Lubrín - History

During the sixteenth century, in the time of Felipe II, there was an morisco uprising of in Granada city and the villages of the Alpujjaras. Following the uprising the inhabitants were exiled resulting Lubrín being left totally uninhabited. The town was later repopulate with 28 families from different parts of Spain, from Lorca to Galicia. The new town was founded in 1528.

This beach is very busy as it is a popular destination for summer holiday visitors, it has slightly less Marbella glamour than other beaches in Marbella. It is a popular spot for younger people. It is a wide beach and does not have a paseo maritimo yet.

Paco del Gastor

Paco del Gastor is one of the most outstanding descendants of Diego del Gastor, and he was the first member of the Gastor dynasty to leave Moron de la Frontera, heading to Madrid to make a name for himself as a professional musician. He was born in Morón in 1944 and his father Francisco, who was the brother of Diego del Gastor.
