Built as a resort town to accommodate the huge influx of tourists that descend upon the Costa Almería during the summer period, Almerimar has no shortage when it comes to hotels and accommodation. Most hotels here have swimming pools and are built in a resort style, located very close to the sandy beaches.

As a region with a history of unparalleled variety and drama, from the Romans to the Moors, to the Golden Age of discovery, you’d expect Andalucia to offer its visitors hotels which encapsulate and personify this cultural richness.

Motril's coastal strip has several beaches, the two closest to the town itself being Playa Granada and Playa Poniente. The latter is better developed, but the area is not aesthetic enough for discerning international tourists. The Gran Hotel (****) is the best on the coast, very comfortable and reasonably priced but its location lacks inspiration. Ideal for a night halt or a business meeting.
