Flamenco occurs in two types of settings: The Juerga, or wild party, is an informal gathering where people are free to join in with the music making while they may dance, sing, clap hands, or simply pound the rhythm on an old orange crate and in this context Flamenco is very dynamic. It adapts to the local mood and talent of its audience, while the singers always remain the most important part.
The professional concert is a much more formal event and performances usually feature only one instrument, with the guitar almost always at the centre. Dancers and singers are sometimes also present. It is rare to find an artist who has mastered performing in both settings at the same level.
