There is only one basic hotel in the village of Montefrio itself called Hotel La Enrea. This is clearly the most convenient to explore the village on foot. There is also a modern apart-hotel called Montefur which is equally convenient. Cortijo la fe - spa is located a few kilometers south if the village in a beautiful rural setting. This Spa hotel is ideal for couples. South of Montefrío village on the access road to Granada.

Montefrio down through time
The numerous traces of Montefrío's rich history are described in the guidebook Roads and Trails of Montefrío by ex resident Lawrence Bohme, perhaps still on sale at the town's tourist office. 'Montefrio Last Stop' is the first of eight essays where Lawrence Bohme reminisces on the summer of 1960 and his discovery of Montefrio.
Montefrio down through time book is available on Amazon. It contains an informative chapter on the Las Penas de los Gitanos complex with detailed description and hand drawn maps of how to fiond the ruins. It was originally published by Nativola in Granada in 2003 as 'Portrait of Montefrio' and before that self published as Roads and Trails of Montefrío.
