The church was built at the time of Cardinal Merino, in the first half of the sixteenth century. It is considered one of the first classicist works in Spain. Its interior consists of a single nave, which shows its main altarpiece known as the “Stone Altar”, which represents the Descent of Christ from the Cross. On the exterior are two Renaissance portals.
