Built as a resort town to accommodate the huge influx of tourists that descend upon the Costa Almería during the summer period, Almerimar has no shortage when it comes to hotels and accommodation. Nastasia Nadaud of France secured a four-stroke victory at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, the season-ending event on the Ladies European Tour, with a score of 66 (-6).  The 21-year-old began the day in third place, five shots behind the overnight leader, Trichat Cheenglab, but found birdies early in her round at the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf.  She made birdies on the first and third holes, followed by an eagle on the fourth, and then a further birdie on the fifth, which took her to the top of the leaderboard.

Doñana National Park

The Parque Nacional de Doñana is one of Europe's most important wetland reserves and a major site for migrating birds. It is an immense area; the parque itself and surrounding parque natural or Entorno de Doñana (a protected buffer zone) amount to over 1,300 sq km in the provinces of Huelva, Sevilla and Cádiz.

Almadraba Tuna

Every year in May, after the first full moon, fishermen from towns on the Cadiz part of the Costa de la Luz, including Barbate, Zahara de los Atunes, Conil de la Frontera, and Tarifa, set up a complicated labyrinth of nets off the Atlantic coast, called the almadraba, to catch blue-fin tuna. This is a major social and gastronomic event, providing essential (if seasonal) work for fishermen, packing factories, restaurants along the coast.
