El Presidente - Estepona districts

By Sinéad Mangan-Mc Hale

Between the district of Benamara to the west and the Isdabe and Atalaya districts to the east, lies El Presidente, a well-established residential beachside urbanisation. The Arroyo de dos Hermanas border it to the west and Avenida Hacienda del Sol to the east.

Residential Areas

The El Presidente urbanisation comprises stand-alone villas, town houses, and apartments. The complex, one of the largest urbanisations in Estepona, was built in several phases beginning in the 1980s, but was constructed to reflect the traditional Andalucían style. The urbanisation has a spacious layout giving a sense of privacy while still residing within a community. The area is known for its extensive, mature, and colourful sub-tropical gardens and the lawned regions complemented by cascading water gardens and fountains (modelled on the Alhambra Palace in Granada). Many of the properties are occupied throughout the year, so there is always a lively community.

Beaches

ddVisitors have access to many beaches along this area, such as Playa Salduna and Playa De Saladillo. The beach areas are typically stoney with dark sand and are excellent locations for those looking for tranquil beach time. More>

Visitors interested in surfing should take advantage of Largos, also known as El Largo or Playa de Lagos, located on Playa Salduna. This is a beach break (exposed reef break) that offers both left and right-hand waves and is surfable at all tide levels. While it's not a consistent surf spot and can be flat during summer, it can provide some decent waves, especially during winter when bigger swells arrive. Watch out for rocks and urchins.

Hotels

There are no hotels within the urbanisation; however, in the Benamara district, there are two easily accessible resorts - the Globales Paraiso Beach hotel and the Senator Banús hotel and spa.

Reataurants and Beach Bars

With a selection of restaurants located in the hotels, and the choice of chiringuitos located along the coastline, visitors have a range of casual and formal dining options. On the beach, Playa Salduna Beach Bar offers a wide range of food and beverages, along with sunbeds available for hire.
