Parque Antena - Estepona districts

By Sinéad Mangan-Mc Hale

Parque Antena is a small, low-density residential area located on the mountainside between the Rio Guadalmansa (to the east of Marbella), Camino de la Boladilla and Calle Rio. The district comprises several established urbanisations and a golf course, offering a quiet and well-spaced living environment.

Residential areas

Parque Antena features a mix of apartment blocks, townhouses, and detached villas, with development spanning several decades. Some individual homes date back to 1968, contributing to the area’s mature character.

The district is names after the original Parque Antena development of 18 scattered blocks five-storey high with four 85m2 apartments in each constructed in 1968 on the commanding location by the coast road and overlooking the coast and the River Guadalmansa Valley. Access is from the east side of the River Guadalmansa on the service road (old N-340).

Other communities to the west of the original have access from the service into Cota La Serena. These are the Urbanización Parque Antena, which comprises low-level apartments completed in 1998. Another community is that of Coto de la Serena, built in phases around the golf course from 1989 to 2008. Some of the low-level apartment blocks around Calle Seguidilla were built in the late 1960s, with some registered in 1968. An apartment-based urbanisation, Palomar de Castiglione, was built in 1989 and Residencial la Palmera (2000), a housing complex with townhouses of considerable size and an outdoor community pool.

The gated community, Dunas Green on Camino de Hornacino, is the more westerly t community within the Parque Antena area. Built in 2004, it has a communal garden and swimming pool.

Places of Interest

Due to its terrain and proximity to the Sierra Bermeja, the district offers a variety of walking, hiking and cycling trails suitable for different levels.

Restaurants

Parque Antena offers a selection of casual and contemporary dining options. Within the suburb, the restaurant Venta Restaurante El Caserío (also known as Magnus Grill Bar) on Calle Seguidilla offers a wide range of traditional Spanish tapas and Mediterranean cuisine in a family-friendly setting. Another nearby restaurant, Paco Heidi, on Avenida Flamenca, offers a wide range of food and drinks. On Calle Martinete, Sol Y Sierra (Rita’s Bar) is a popular local favourite. FONS is a Mediterranean restaurant with a contemporary gastronomic approach. It is based in a renovated 18th-century cortijo (farmhouse) within the grounds of Coto de la Serena urbanisation. In addition to the restaurant, it also functions as a venue for weddings and private and corporate events.

Golf and Sports

Coto de la Serena Golf Course - also known as Club de Golf El Coto—was designed by Pedro Morán Montero and opened in 1991. This distinctive 9-hole, par-3 course is set within the Coto de la Serena urbanisation and features tranquil, Japanese-style landscaping, divided by a gently winding stream. Though compact, it presents a genuine challenge: precision off the tees is essential, particularly on the par-3 holes that weave through dense, lush vegetation. More>
