Casa Rosa

Casa Rosa is a pretty, candy-pink French-style villa with magnificent gardens at the far end of Parque Maria Luisa. The house was part of the vast estate of Palacio San Telmo, which was occupied in the second half of the 19th century by the Duke and Duchess of Montpensier.

Rockin’ Race Jamboree 2025

This festival which celebrates its 31st edition in 2025 features about 40 rockabilly, blues, surf, and boogie-woogie bands from Europe, and USA. Took place 5-9th February 2025 in several venues in Torremolinos including the Principe de Asturias auditorium, the Hotel Barracuda and Plaza del Remo.

History of Pujerra

Dolmen remains across the Rio Genal valley record Neolithic habitation here. The town hall suggests that Roman and Visigothic remnants can be found in the area, although this claim lacks substance.

Olula del Río

Olula del Río is the only town in the world where the pavements and street signs are all made from marble. This characteristic element of the town represents the role of Olula del Río as a major marble producer in Spain. It has around 6,200 inhabitants. The earliest traces of settlements found in Olula del Río are from the Neolithic and Copper Ages.

Montilla

Montilla is world-famous for its wine and endless fields of grape-vines punctuate a landscape of gentle rolling hills. It is best known for its dry white wine which is made using the same solera method as sherry. The very sweet Pedro Ximenez grapes are used so consequently, it does not need fortifying.

Golfing in Puerto de Santa Maria may be slightly different to other places in Andalucia just because it might be a more tranquil 18 holes. The Costa Ballena Golf course for example is relatively unknown, at least compared to Golf Courses on the Costa del Sol in more touristic places such as Marbella.

Iglesia de San Miguel

This simple model of a Mudejar church, with a single nave drawer plan, was not always so minimalistic. Built in 1530, it managed to survive the Moorish rebellion, various fires and an earthquake, until it was moved to another location. However, during this journey, it lost the back section of the sanctuary and the main chapel, and was reduced to this simple temple.

Fondón

Fondón is remembered for being the place where Boabdil, the last King of Andalucía, hid when he lost his throne to the Christians. He supposedly hid in the Castle of the Fuente Victoria area. It has about 990 inhabitants.

Every Spring, the town of El Puerto de Santa Maria, blooms into bursts of colour. El Puerto de Santa Maria began its Fiesta de Los Patios around the year 2000. The "Association of Friends of the Patios of El Puerto de Santa Maria" (Asociación de los Amigos de los Patios Portuenses) sponsors a type of "open-house".
