Marbella / Design & Art

Marbella / Design and Art is an international (mainly interior) design fair in Marbella which combined with the Marbella /Art fair and Marbella / Design Fair. Marbella / Design was first held in 2018 and takes place in the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos over eleven days in early November.

Festivals in Caniles

The 18 th to 20 th January sees the celebration of San Sebastian Day. It is popularly called ' El Robo del sant ' (the stealing of the Saint), during Semana Santa (Easter Holy Week), the villagers celebrate the 'Día de la Vieja' (the day of the old woman), from the 11 th to 13 th June the festival of San Antonio de Padua is celebrated.

Hotel Eurostars Tartessos

This four-star hotel has 100 guest rooms offering mini-bar and satellite TV. Some rooms have balconies; family rooms for two adults and two children are available. You can eat at the Mirta restaurant, which serves traditional Andalucian dishes from the region such as Sanlucar prawns, jamon iberico and mushrooms from the Sierra de Aracena, and mojama from Isla Cristina, and is housed around a glassed-in patio.

Iglesia Parroquial

The Church is of Mudejar style, repaired after the expulsion of the Moors in the sixteenth century with the arrival of the new settlers. It consists of a central nave and side chapel, housing images and accessories of great artistic and sentimental value for the locals. Located in Plaza del General Franco.

El Tejar

El Tejar is a small village in the very south of Cordoba province, conveniently located just of the A-44 Antequera to Cordoba Motorway. It is actually part of the Benemeji municipal district although located on the opposite side of the River Genil valley. Its population is 170.

Chipiona Beaches

Chipiona boasts some beautiful beaches, frequented by many people living in and around Seville. However, due government funding, the area is gradually opening up to international tourism. Monitjo beach is located just west of the Punta de Montijo. The sandy beach is quite pebbly in areas, with lots of seashells around for those into beach combing.

At 1,248 km in length, this huge highway from Cadiz to Barcelona was the longest road in Spain. It is colloquially known as the Spanish Route 66, and many have travelled the entire route and written blogs about their adventure.

Unesco World Heritage Sites

A UNESCO World Heritage Site is a place (either a natural feature, such as a forest, mountain, lake or desert; or a manmade item, such as a monument, building or city) that is listed by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

River Nacimiento Valley

There are five municipal districts in the Rio Nacimiento Valley and one has the same name as the river. The highway form Almeria to Guadix climbs this valley. One municipality is unusual in that it is not the name of a village. This is called Las tres Villas (three villages) and was created in 1976 combining the hamlets of Ocaña, Doña María and Escúllar.

Ronda

Despite being a growing town, Ronda retains much of its historic charm, particularly its old town. It is famous worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the rio Guadalevín through its centre. Visitors make a beeline for the 18th century Puente Nuevo 'new' bridge, which straddles the 100m chasm below, before taking in the views from the Alameda out over the Serranía de Ronda mountains.

Seville Gate

The Gate of Seville is of considerable historical interest standing as an original fortified tower and an early entry gate to the Alcazar or fortress from the west. Fragments date back to the 10th century. The wall here was erected by Christians in the 14th and 15th century along with the barbican and moat.

History of Villaluenga del Rosario

Of all the towns on the Pueblos Blancos route in the Sierra de Cadiz, this one sits at the highest altitude. Situated within the natural park of the Sierra de Grazalema, its location offers such fascinating places as the La Yedra and La Rajada caves, where remains from the Neolithic period have been found.

National Traffic Authority

The National Traffic Authority in Spain is called the DGT – “Dirección General de Tráfico” and co-ordinates traffic across the country. The DGT’s website provides some information in English and is a good place to start looking for information about any official documents you would like to acquire, such as the Spanish point-based driver’s license.
