Arriving in Estepona by Car

Estepona is located on the coast about 20km west of Marbella. The town has a bypass for through traffic along the coast. The town is best entered from the east (slip road off A-7 coastal highway then under bridge) or from the west turn right at 'Estepona' km 152 roundabout by Shell petrol station.You will now be entering the town via the old coast road.

Lake Viñuela

Estepona Marina

The Estepona Marina is situated at the west end of the seafront promenade. This is a very pleasant place for a stroll and there are some magnificent boats moored here. There are also a wide variety of excellent bars and restaurants, open both midday and in the evening while younger revelers can enjoy the late night disco bars. There is a popular tourist market here on a Sunday morning.

Estepona Nightlife

Estepona offers numerous bars with music in the town centre. Here is a guide to a wide array of venues, ranging from those open during the day and on into evening to the latest of the late night clubs. The bars in the town are generally less expensive as they are geared to a local crowd as opposed to tourists. This is a great area to visit to see something different, including more than one positively unique bar.

Palacio del Marqués de Contadero

The palace was built in 1788, although it does have features from sixteenth century Renaissance. The grounds house the tourism office of the Regional Government of Andalusia in Úbeda. Located in Calle Baja del Marqués.

A selection of hotels which can be found in locations that have good walking or hiking routes available nearby. Andalucia has many ranges of hills and mountains, as well as spectacular scenery in less undulating landscapes, offering innumerable opportunities to explore the natural environment on foot, a delight for birdwatchers and nature-lovers.

The landscapes of rural Andalucía are breathtaking and one of the best ways to appreciate their diversity and beauty is on foot. However it is sometimes hard to determine exactly where a path is located and if there is a public right of way. There are designated footpaths, as well as those inside the national and natural parks.

Cycling in Andalucia

Cycling is a popular sport in Andalucia and it is not uncommon to see groups of cyclists out enjoying a weekend morning together as they tour the countryside. Equally in the last few years the number of cyclists in the cities and towns has increased, and so has the km-s of cycle lanes. Seville being a prime example.

Estepona Post Offices

The main post office is on the seafront promenade near the centre of the old town. Opposite Calle de la Terraza. The collection of parcels and 'Lista de Correos' are here.

Russian Art Museum

The museum houses 100 pieces dating from the 15th to 20th centuries specially selected for Málaga, as well as two temporary exhibitions each year. The works come from the Russian State Museum's collection in St Petersburg covering every period of Russian art. This is the first museum to house paintings from the museum in Russia.

Alcazaba of Málaga

La Alcazaba is Malaga's most important landmark, and overlooks the city from a hilltop inland. It is one of two Moorish fortresses in the city, the other being the Castillo de Gibralfaro, situated above. The Alcazaba is the best-preserved Moorish fortress palace in Spain. It received about 1 million visitors in 2016.

The Pompidou Centre

Opened on 28 March 2015, the Pop-Up Pompidou is housed in El Cubo, a cuboid glass structure in Malaga port, and buildings next to it. It received 76 thousand visitors in the first three months. The 6000m2 centre has 80 works, with two or three annual exhibitions lasting 3-6 months during the next five years.

Carmen Thyssen Museum

Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza, one of the world's foremost art collectors, now has her own eponymous museum in Malaga, which opened in March 2011. The paintings are from her personal collection, amassed over the past 30 years.

Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza

This magnificent bullring is considered to be one of the finest in Spain and is one of the oldest and most important in the world. Although many of the younger generation in Spain abhor the sport, it remains phenomenally popular, especially in Seville, and the 'Catedral del Toreo' is the perfect place to experience the electric atmosphere of a corrida (bullfight).

Jardines de la Concepción

Just outside Malaga, "La Concepción Jardín Botánico-Historico de Málaga." is a magnificent botanical garden. There are regular guided tours of the gardens which pass through exotic trees and plants, Roman sculptures and a waterfall. There is also a beautiful mansion that once belonged to the creators of the gardens, the Marquis of Casa Loring and his wife, and several panoramic view points to enjoy.
