Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía

The only public center of photography in Spain, the Andalusian Center of Photography (CAF) is situated what was the once the Lycée Français of Almeria. It is a headquarters space created for different uses in which, in addition to exhibitions of photography of all styles and times, a photographic library is also offered to the public.

Costa Ballena Club de Golf, Chipiona

Costa Ballena is a relatively unknown golf complex situated between the towns of Sanlucar and Puerto de Santa Maria, tucked away by the beach and so easily accessed from Jerez de la Frontera and Cadiz. It has 27 holes of golf laid out in three nines with each nine quite different and distinctive. In addition, there is a nine-hole par-3 practice course, a massive practice driving range (over 300 yards wide that can accommodate 120 people at once) plus other areas for chipping and putting practice.

Villafranca

Villafranca de Córdoba has an unusual festival called the Gran Huevada, celebrated on the 14 May, during which thousands of eggs are fried and shared among the community. The town has around 4800 inhabitants.

Things to Do

Boulevard: Sitting on top of the main coast road (in a 3km underpass) is the Boulevard park. Beaches & Promenade: San Pedro has an expansive beach and long seafront promenade with Chiringuitos. Paleochristian Necropolis: Paleochristian Balisilica Church and Necropolis are located in woods near the seafront.

History of La Peza

Since ancient times, La Peza has been a key point on the route connecting the eastern peninsula with the Genil Valley and the Vega de Granada. Its strategic location would have made it an attractive place for early human settlement, as it was more accessible than the route through the entire Sierra Nevada.

The initial construction of the palace was begun by Pedro Enríquez de Quiñones (1435-1492), IV Chief Governor of Andalucía, a noble title bestowed by the King, and his second wife Catalina de Rivera, founder of the Casa de Alcalá, and completed by their son Fadrique Enríquez de Rivera (1476 - 1539), First Marquess of Tarifa.

History of Andújar

The oldest remains found in the area date from the Paleolithic era, belonging to the Acheliense Culture, but it was during the Neolithic period and in the first part of the Bronze Age that the population of the area began to develop more seriously, supported by the development of agriculture in its fertile lands and mining in the Sierra Morena.

Plaza de la Constitution

Plaza de la Constitution is also called Plaza Vieja, this square in the centre of the old town is located close to the cathedral and the Alcazaba. The square, which is narrow at one end, is enclosed by three-storey buildings - on one side is the Town Hall, an ornate Renaissance building with emblematic clock.
