Ermita de San Antón

This chapel was documented in the seventeenth century, although the small iron cross of the same name is mentioned in documents dating as far back as the sixteenth century. Its exterior image offers a rectangular-shaped main façade, topped with a belfry that supports a small bell.

Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro

Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro is a newer village in the municipal district of San Roque next to the older Guadiaro village. It is located on the north side of the A-7, opposite the resort of Sotogrande. Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro is often shortened to PN de Guadiaro. 

Roscos recipe

Mix the egg, 4 tbsp olive oil, milk, anisette, sugar, and baking powder. Measure out the flour and add most of it, stirring well. Add just enough flour to form a dough that is not sticky. Finish mixing with your hands, and then shape the dough with your hands into round strips about 10 to 15 cm long; form each strip into a circle by sealing the tips with a bit of water.

Arenas

Arenas, once known as Arenas del Rey in honour of Fernando El Rey Catolico (Ferdinand the Catholic King, husband of Isabella), is the start of the Ruta Mudejar which runs through five towns in La Axarquia. Arenas is located close to the Cerro de Bentomiz (Hill of Bentomiz), between the Sierras de Tejeda and Almajira at a height of just over 400m above sea level.

Ayuntamiento

The Town Hall was built in 1732 and restored between 1991 and 1993, incorporating then Baroque elements on the façade and some later ones associated with modernist reforms carried out in 1909, with few original features. Located in Plaza de la Encarnación.

The Interpretation Center of Traditional Architecture aims to spread the values of traditional architecture in the Sierra de Filabres, especially the slate roof designs seen in the municipalities of Castro de Filabres, Senés and Velefique.
