Lepe

Lepe is a small agricultural market town, that until the late seventies its economy was based on fishing, but is now one of the wealthiest villages in the region thanks to its intensive farming of strawberries, which are exported all over Europe. It is also famous for being the subject of innumerable Spanish 'Irishman' jokes. It has about 27, 000 inhabitants.

There are many English language radio stations in Andalucia, especially along the Costa del Sol and some inland areas where many English speaking residents have settled over the last few decades. A few of the pioneering English language stations are still going strong after and have long-term.

Carboneras

Sitting in a unique and spectacular environment, Carboneras is a perfect destination for nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy the views, or practice open-air sports including hiking or scuba diving. It is set within the Nature Reserve of Cabo de Gata-Níjar, one of the most arid protected areas in Europe and the only one in Andalusia with a coast, including Los Muertos beach.

Nerva

Nerva is located 4km east of Minas de Rio Tinto, and its fate has been similarly entwined with that of the famous mines. The mine you can visit as part of the Mining Park, Peña del Hierro, is located within the municipality of Nerva. The village has a population of about 6,000.

Alcaidesa Heathland Golf Course

To complement the original links course, Heathland is another spectacular option for players at Alcaidesa. Designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 2007, it has wide open fairways and is reasonably flat all the way round, apart from the 11th which is laid out over differing levels.

Doña Mencía

Doña Mencía offers a wonderful blend of nature, culture and history, attracting a huge variety of visitors. Significantly, it is part of the protected Natural Park of the Sierras Subbéticas, where the Vía Verde de la Subbética is located. The town has around 4700 inhabitants.

Zip Line Sanlúcar de Guadiana to Portugal

Sanlúcar de Guadiana has an activity group called Limitezero that offers the only cross-border zip line in the world. It provides its visitors with a unique, unforgettable experience crossing over the River Guadiana from Spain to Portugal on the first cross-border zip line in the world.

Cúllar

Cúllar is one of the six, beautiful traditional Andalusian villages making up the region of Baza in the Altiplano area within the Granada Province. It is in the north east of the province, in the Hoya de Baza and at a height above sea level of approximately 890 metres. The municipality covers some 400 km2, with approximately 5,500 inhabitants.

Golf - Cerrado del Águila Golf & Resort

A 9-hole course designed by Francisco Navarro and situated next to the old Mijas race-track, it has extensive views of the sea from many of the holes. With its flat, wide, open fairways and medium-sized greens this is a reasonably easy course to play. There are two par-5 holes, the 2nd and the 9th, of 520 and 555 metres respectively, and all the greens have a variety of pin positions.

Pozoblanco

Pozoblanco is the commercial and industrial centre of Pedroches Valley and its Semana Santa celebrations have been declared a Fiesta de Interés Turístico. The town has about 17,200 inhabitants.
