Puerto BanÚs - Shopping Centre

The main access to Puerto Banus is via Avenida José Banus, with the commemorations to the stars inlaid in the pavement of the central reservation.

On the west one side is the external non-accessible face of Playas del Duque with Open Core and other commercial units at street level. Gray d'Albion entrance is also here. This is a single block complex that is  in part, front line to the beach. Hardly noticed still stands the old 18th centrury watchtower called Torre del Duque.

To the west of Puerto Banus marina and part of the original Puerto Banus complex is the Benabola complex or Conjunto Benabola, three rows of buildings that include Plaza Hotel, Benabola Hotel, apartments and shops, with public underground parking.

Puerto Banus Marina complex itself is a long thin strip of two rows of Andalucian village style buildings separated by Calle Ribera.

One block back and on the east side of Avenida José Banus are 1980s constructions of shop and residential Jardines de Puerto Banus which include swimming pools. Behind this is La Terrazas de Banus built in the early 2000s.

The next block to the east is devoted to Plaza Antonio Banderas, with a 24-hr underground car park and low-rise retail and restaurants on the west side including the famous Tibu nightclub.

The next block east of Calle José Saramago consists of Marina Banus apartments blocks one and two facing west and Plaza Antonio Banderas and Block Three and Four facing east. The Puerto Banus cinema, now called Teatro Goya, and the Marina Marbella Shopping Centre face south and north respectively.

Between Avenida Rotary International and the main cost road is the Hotel Pyr which was constructed in the early 1980s. Edificio Tembo dates from about 2000, and El Corte Ingles complex was constructed in an amazing 10 months and opened in 1996. It has underground parking that closes when the shop does, at 22.00.

'Book-ending' the whole commercial scene is Edificio Cristamar, long-standing and never falling construction of the 1980s. It has underground parking as well.

East of dual-carriageway Avenida de los Naciones Unidas which serves as the main secondary and eastern entrance to Puerto Banus. It is guarded by the tall Russian statue at the beach end, bestowed by mayor of Moscow and the Rhino sculpture at the other end.

Between Avenida de los Naciones Unidas and the Rio Verde are half a dozen residential complexes in a district we call Puerto Banus East Side Resedential. including Los Granados I and II,    La Alcazaba Puerto Banus, Syres Residential care home, Melia Hotel Banus, La Isla, Playa Rocio, Alcazaba Gardens, Alcazaba Rio Verde developments.

In this part of Puerto Banus is its best beach, Playa Puerto Banus.

This district is bounded by the Rio Verde. A footbridge was constructed in 2009 and serves as a popular access from El Ancon district and unification of the Malaga coastal footpath promenade; senda litoral de Malaga.
