Azalea Beach
Azalea Beach is the name of the modern macro-community of a dozen or so communities that were established on this land in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It is bounded to the west by the Rio Guadaliza and to the east by Calle Ventura del Mar. The seafront Ventura del Mar stands out. The four level 23’000 m2 gardens have 200 types of different natural plants so that the apartments are all surrounded by the intense green of its tropical gardens. The project promotor Mohsen Eftekhar comissioned Andalucia.com to install a webcam on site to monitor the construction progress. Imported from California, this was the first webcam operating in Marbellla.
Los Rodeos
In the late 1940s the area between the Rio Guadaliza and the Rio Verde was known as Rodeo Alto and Rodeo Bajo. Ricardo Soriano, Marqués de Ivanrrey, bought this farming land and subdivided his finca (estate) and persuaded his jet set friends to buy plots of his land and build their houses by the sea.Today there are mainly modern complexes in this sought after district of Marbella. Hotel Bluebay Banus, La Mimosas de Puerto Banus, Malibu complex, La Herradura, Guadalpin Banus, Laguna de El Embrujo Banus.
Villa Marina
On the east side of where a small river once flowed is Villa Marina district. A mix of villas and complexes such as Medina Gardens, and Andalucia de Mar. A number of private villas remain here and at leasr one front line one is La Sala Beach club.
Playas del Duque
Playas de Duque is a large urbanización or development located close to the seafront just to the west of Puerto Banús. Playas del Duque consists of four Mediterranean-style blocks. It and has direct private access to the seafront promenade which at this point is divided from the beach by the Ocean Club Beach club.
Las Gaviotas
Las Gaviotas is the new construction in four blocks located between Avenida Playas del Duque and the main coast road.
Puerto Banus Shopping Centre
The main access to Puerto Banus is via Avenida José Banus, with the commemorations to the stars inlaid in the pavement of the central reservation. The main shopping centre here is the Corte Ingles, Marina Marbella shopping centre, and Edificio Cristamar. Hotels in this central area are Plaza Suites Hotel, Benabola hotel, HotelPyr. The Puerto Banus cinema, now called Teatro Goya. There are residential blocks in this mainly shopping zone called Playas del Duque, Gray d'Albion, Conjunto Benabola, Jardines de Puerto Banus, La Terrazas de Banus, Edificio Tembo
Puerto Banus Marina
Puerto Banus complex itself is a long thin strip of two rows of Andalucian village style buildings separated by Calle Ribera. This essentially form two areas, front line which overlooks the yachts in the Marina. Most front line is restaurants and brand boutiques. The second line, in Calle Ribiera is a range of music bars and discos and nightclubs.
East side residential Puerto Banus
Between Avenida de los Naciones Unidas and the Rio Verde are half a dozen residential complexes including La Alcazaba Puerto Banus, Los Granados I and Los Granados II La Isla, Playa Rocio, Alcazaba Gardens, Alcazaba Rio Verde, Sanres and Melia Hotel Banus.
