El Lago, One Michelin Star Restaurants
Beautifully set overlooking a lake and golf course, in a smart residential development, this is as slick as you’d expect for such an upmarket location. Chef Diego del Rio’s dishes include tuna tartare with ajoblanco of kimchi, apple and crunchy quinoa, or pigeon with puree of carrots, honey bread and soy and hazelnut sauce.
El Lago held a Michelin star from 2005 to 2023.
As it says in the Michelin guide:
As an antidote to the frenzy of summer in Marbella, head to El Lago, in the clubhouse of the Greenlife Golf complex. Here, you’ll find a haven of peace and tranquillity thanks to the harmony of the surroundings and views of a large lake, especially from the stunning summer terrace. All of this provides an idyllic backdrop for the cuisine at this Michelin-starred restaurant.
Málaga-born chef Fernando Villasclaras continues El Lago’s desire for seasonally based Andalucian cuisine that uses zero-mile or locally sourced ingredients. The à la carte is complemented by a specific (and more informal) lunchtime option called Midi, and the organic-focused Sazón tasting menu – a word that refers to the point at which ingredients reach their point of perfect ripeness or maturity.
