The Archaeological Museum of Frigliana is closed (July 2021) while works are underway to move it into a new building.

Located in the old Town Hall and inaugurated in 1995, the museum recreates the old Mijas. Tools for farming, fishing, olive oil pressing, winemaking can be viewed.  Traveling art collections and local crafts are also on display.In the museum you will also find a replica of the bedroom where Manuel Cortés Quero, El Topo de Mijas, was in hiding for 30 years.

You can catch the open ferry boats from Playa Bajo de Guia over the Guadalquivir river to the shores of Parque Nacional de Doñana (and back again). From here you can walk along the beach or walk a little way into the park, although there is not much to see at this point.
