Marine Centres

Andalucia has a number of Marine Centres that are ideal for family entertainment and education. Most are open from May to September. There are also a number of small quieter Marine Science Centres that are also open to the public as an educational and environmental projects.

In the natural landscape of the Isla Cristina salt marshes in, one of the many water mills to be found on this Huelva coastline has been restored and is now home to the Centro de Interpretación de la Naturaleza “El Hombre y la Marisma’ (Centre for Natural Investigation ‘Man and the salt marshes’).

Selwo Marina offers a new concept in family entertainment, bringing together sea life and the Amazon in an unusual but happy combination. The Marina is a complement to Selwo Adventure wildlife park in Estepona.

Benalmádena's Sea Life Centre is a walk-through underwater park in Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol, which takes you on an  stroll along the seabed in a glass tunnel. You pass aquatic species from the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans and the Red Sea. It is an interesting and entertaining voyage of discovery for the whole family.

This aquarium is a place for entertainment, leisure and education. The design of the Aquarium represents the water cycle and it is divided into different rooms: The Tropics, The Ocean and The Mediterranean.

Museo Alborania  (Maritime Museum) or Aula del Mar (Classroom of the sea) is a museum and research centre aimed at educating  visitors about ecotourism using touch screens, marine artefacts and real-life marine species.

Unfortunately the ‘Aula Marina de El Terrón' closed in 2008 due to lack of funds and the building is abandoned. We keep this poage as a historical record in the hope that it will open again one day.
