2018/19 was the second-best season in the resort’s history, with over a million skiers, thanks to an early start, plentiful snowfalls as well as efficient snow production, and good weather.

Sierra Nevada - Ski Station News 2019/20

A new ski touring/mountaineering trail in the Lomo del Dilar area starts at Pradollano, ascending Loma del Dilar, Peñon del Dilar and Poniente runs, until reaching the radio telescope. This is in addition to the 6.2 km trail which runs from the lower station of the Virgen de la Nieves chairlift to the upper station of the Laguna chairlift, near the peak of Veleta, with 920 m of climbing.

The season lasted 163 days, from 25 November 2017 to 6 May 2018 - making it one of the longest in history, with the third-highest numbers of skiers and visitors.

New cross-country ski trail. A new 2,500m-long cross-country (Nordic) trail is located next to the lower chairlift at Virgen de las Nieves, to cater for the growing number of those practising this winter sport.

The main event for this season is the World Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Championships (WFSSC) which takes place from 7 to 19 March 2017. This is the second-most important event ever to be held at Sierra Nevada, after the World Alpine Championships in 1996.
