Living in Andalucía

As an expatriate in Andalucía you will need much of the same information any Spaniard might need upon moving to this region. However, as a foreigner you'll also have many specific needs - especially regarding culture, language and integration issues.

Hotel Pez Espada

Pez Espada Hotel is located on the seafront in Montemar, Torremolinos, the hotel offers secluded gardens, swimming pools and large shaded terraces. Guests have a private entrance that leads directly to the beach. The former fishing village of La Carihuela is just a few minutes stroll along the promenade. Here one will find a maze of artisan shops, tapas bars and excellent fish and seafood restaurants.

Technology Parks

There are several important business and technology parks in Andalucia. They are located outside the main cities of Andalucia. Each one has a different industry sector focus.

Cordoba City

Cordoba was founded by the Romans and due to its strategic importance as the highest navigable point of the Guadalquivir River, it became a port city of great importance, used for shipping Spanish olive oil, wine and wheat back to Ancient Rome. The Romans built the mighty bridge crossing the river, now called "El Puente Romano".

Tourist Office

The tourist office of a Lanjarón is located in the Oficina de Turismo.

Fuente de Piedra

The village of Fuente de Piedra (with a population of approximately 2,000) is close to the Natural park and lake; Laguna de Fuente de Piedra. Due to the presence of the lake, it seems that man has been in this area since prehistoric times. Later, commercial links were maintained with the Phoenicians and the Carthaginians. During Roman times, the lake was named "Fons Divinus" or divine spring, due to the medicinal properties of the water.

Breña y Marismas de Barbate Natural Park

Created in 1989, the Breña y Marismas de Barbate park is Andalucia's second largest coastal reserve and has one of the most spectacular stretches of rocky cliffs along the Andalucian Atlantic coastline, with stunning views over the sea and to the rocky headland of Cape Trafalgar and its lighthouse.

Fuente de Zamora

The spring is located outside the village in an area known as Piedras Blancas, in the same location that a Paleolithic horse engraving was discovered.

Cadiz - Sea Bream Cadiz Style

Hurta a la Gaditana - Sea Bream, Cádiz Style. Hurta is the red-banded sea bream, typical of the Cádiz coasts, but any large sea bream (such as gilthead or red bream) could be used instead.

Car Rental Groups in Andalucia

When you hire a car online you are actually reserving a car in a 'rental group' and not a specific make or model of car. Note that adjacent to the name of the car in the listing it will say 'or similar'. The headline car in the listings tends to be an 'expensive' model.  The groups and their composition of car makes and models are not published by any of the car hire companies.  

Bus service

There is a bus services from Laroles to Almeria using the bus company, ALSA.

Montejaque

As in all the pueblos blancos, Montejaque dates from the time of the Berber settlers, after the Moslem conquest. Located in a semi-hidden bowl hidden by circular rocky outcrops, it overlooks a small fertile valley of olive groves.

Golf Classes

With the a sun that shines most of the year, Andalucía is a perfect place to learn to golf. You don't need clubs or special clothing to get started. Just dress comfortably and sign up for the golf lessons that are offered at almost every course.
