Palacio del Bailio

Part of the excellent Spanish Hospes group (they also have hotels in Granada and Sevilla), known for their sensitive conversions of period buildings, excellent food and first-class spas, this was the first five-star hotel in the historic centre of Cordoba. Located near the Plaza de Colon, the hotel offers modern comfort in a historic setting.

Marina del Este, Punta de la Mona Marina

This exceptionally pretty yet little-known marina, one of the most attractive in the whole Mediterranean, is located in the small seaside town of La Herradura. The port is situated on the eastern side of a natural headland called Punta de la Mona, on the other side from the town. It is geographically outstanding, with a perfectly-protected situation, courtesy of natural features.

Estadio la Cartuja - La Cartuja Stadium, Seville

Estadio La Cartuja (formerly known as the Estadio Olimpico de Sevilla) is the main stadium in Seville, and the second-largest in Andalucia. It is located in the north of Isla la Cartuja, to the north-west of the city centre.

Cross-country Skiing

Andalucia is well known for its sunshine, beaches and amazing rural and cultural attractions - but skiing? Not an obvious connection. In fact, a thriving downhill skiing industry exists thanks to the world-class station in Sierra Nevada. Even fewer will be aware that this region is also cultivating cross-country ski (also known as Nordic skiing, as opposed to Alpine - downhill), and that we have excellent athletes in training who compete not only in the south of Spain, but all over the world.

Villas for sale in Duquesa

Villas for sale in and around Puerto de la Duquesa, one of the Costa del Sol's marinas that is enjoyed by sailors and tourists alike. Located one hour's drive from the airport of Malaga and 45 minutes form Gibraltar airport. La Duquesa seems like a thousand miles away from the throng of the holiday resorts. It is relatively quiet during most of the year. The restaurants come alive in July and August.

Cádiar

Cádiar is a completely mountainous village that has preserved it´s Morisco feel and character. It was formed by three neighbourhoods: Cádiar, Narila and Yátor, and is situated between Sierra Nevada and Sierra de la Contraviesa. There were some extremely valuable archaeological remains found in the village, including pieces of ceramics from the medieval era.

When do the clocks change in Andalucia, Spain?

In Spring 2026, clocks change in Andalucia and Spain on the last Sunday in March - 29 March 2025 to CEST (Central European Summer Time) when the clocks will go one hour forward at 02.00 hrs.

Vejer de la Frontera

If you are exploring the N340 Costa de la Luz coast road, you'd be wise to make time for a wander around Vejer. This classic white village on the hilltop is well worth a visit. It is actually 10 kilometers inland, perched high above the steep gorge of the River Barbate.

Via Verde of the Campiña

Spain´s longest vía verde (Railway Path) at 91km, this route crosses the gently rolling campiña (countryside) between Valchillón, just southwest of Cordoba, and Marchena in Seville province, 60km from Seville. It passes through the valley of the Guadalquivir river, with its fertile plain and cultivated fields of cereal crops and olive groves.

Valentines Day - 14 February

The 14th of February is Valentine's Day, or Dia de los Enamorados (Lovers' Day) in Spain. Monachil

Monachil is a village in Granada province within the Sierra Nevada National Park and location of the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort, the southernmost ski resort in Europe. It is also popular with nature lovers as well as skiers and snowboarders.

Polo originates from ancient Persia from the sixth century BC to the first century AD. During the fifteenth and sixteenth century, the game was eventually passed from Persia to other parts of Asia, particularly India, Pakistan and China.

Bedmar y Garcíez History

The origins of Bedmar can be traced back to the Iberians, later becoming a Roman castro and in turn inhabited by the Visigoths. However, it was during the Arab occupation of the territory that Bedmar became a formal township through the building of Villa Vieja. In 1411, the Order of Santiago built the “New Castle” modelled on contemporary defensive techniques, making it impossible for the Nasrid troops to attack. The castle’s strategic position on the Nasrid border made it a frequent object of military attention, which ultimately culminated in the Castilian conquest of 1431.

Monastery del Cuervo

The barefoot Carmelite monks, who chose the most beautiful countryside they could find for the prefect tranquil retreat between the cork trees and oak trees, built this impressive monastery in 1717. The result was this splendid building in the clearing of the forest, in a square with two diagonally facing structures added on.
