Bardal restaurant Ronda

Bardal gained its first Michelin star in November 2017, shortly after opening in July 2016. Just two years later, in November 2019, it moved up to two-star status. Chef Benito Gomez, who is originally from Barcelona, previously worked in La Alqueria, in Hotel Hacienda Benazuza (now closed) in Sanlucar la Mayor (Seville), and before opening Bardal he had another restaurant nearby in Ronda, Tragata.

History of Juviles

The earliest recorded information about Juviles dates back to the beginning of the Hispano-Muslim era in the eighth century, as evidenced by the fortress (El Fuerte de Juviles) dating from that period. Its location was chosen for strategic reasons, and in times of difficulty it protected the neighbouring towns.

Finance - Banking

The number of banks has increased considerably over the last few years. There are two main types of bank in Spain, clearing banks and savings banks. In the latter category Spain has over 80 savings institutions called "cajas", in Spanish, which were originally charitable organisations granting loans for public interest and agricultural policies. They comprise co-operative savings banks whose members are agricultural co-operatives, although they play only a small part in Spain's banking system and hold just a few percent of total bank assets.

Grabados Rupestres de Piedras Blancas

Rock engraving on the southern slope of the Sierra de los Filabres, at an altitude of 1,400m. It is the representation of a complete figure of a horse, in absolute profile and with a slightly ascending position, from back to front. Its conventions place us in the middle of the Upper Paleolithic era, corresponding to the Solutrean stage.

Genalguacil - Encuentros de Arte 1996

A bi-annual event during the first two weeks in August on even years there is an art festival in Genalguacil called "Los Encuentros de Arte del Valle del Genal", and prize-winning works of art are created by 'Artists in residence' and placed on permanent public display throughout the village afterwards. Cordoba - Gazpacho Cream

A thick cream which is served in individual ramekins as a starter, to be eaten with a spoon. It also makes a good party dip, accompanied by bread sticks and vegetable dippers. To turn it into gazpacho, just thin with water and serve with the usual accouterments of chopped onions, cucumbers, green peppers and bread crumbs.

Popular festivals in Laroles are Fiestas de San Sebastián y San Antonio, Guerillas, San Marcos and San Juan.

Macharaviaya

This hill village, part of the Ruta Turistica del Sol y el Aguacate, enjoyed the height of its fortunes from the 18th century until the beginning of the 19th century. In fact, such was Macharaviaya's status that it was known as "little Madrid".

The Interpretation Center of Traditional Work is dedicated to preserving and disseminating information about the most typical local trades. Most of the exhibition centres around works derived from the Mediterranean triad (cereal, vine and olive tree), but almond agriculture also features.
