Costa del Sol Open de España creates the Celia Barquín Award

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, the most important women's professional tournament held in Spain on a regular basis, has created the Celia Barquín Award to reward each year the best amateur player who participates in this prestigious competition, which in 2022 will be held at the Alferini Golf near Villa Padierna. near Estepona between 24 and 27 November.

Alborán Natural Area

The Isla de Alborán is situated in the Mediterranean sea 48km from the port of Adra on the Almeria coast and 39km from the Spanish enclave of Melilla on the African coast. The protected area covers the island itself and a band of sea around it. It is noteworthy for its rich marine life, which includes one of the most threatened marine species in the Mediterranean, the limpet patella ferrunginea, as well as bottle-nose dolphins and several species of coral.

These hotels offer excellent facilities for those travelling with children. All are centrally located, convenient for visiting Ronda's main sites such as the Tajo Gorge and bullring. Granada City Carnival

The Granada Carnival, along with those of the provincial towns, are among the least publicised, but they do take place. The festival usually lasts about a week in the provincial capital and starts well after Shrove Tuesday. It includes the usual singing contests that are held in theatres and other venues. There is also plenty of activity in the streets of Granada (a city that is famous for its "tapa" appetisers that accompany drinks at no extra charge), including a parade.

Granada Airport - Bus Service

There are several departures a day for buses to the city centre. Operated by Autocares Gonzalez. There are about 10 buses a day to Granada city from the airport. The journey time is 45 minutes and the cost is 3 Euros.

Sierra Maria-Los Velez Natural Park

Designated a natural park in 1987, the Sierra María-Los Vélez occupies the eastern end of the Cordillera Subbética in the north of Almeria province. It covers 22,670ha, a landscape of impressive contrasts, with its arid, moon-like plains overlooked by the Sierra's rocky summits, which are white with snow in winter, and the dry, barren south-facing slopes compared to its densely wooded north-facing ones.

Parque de la Constitución

Parque de la Constitución, a large city park was built in the 1950´s just out of the town centre, minutes walk from the beach. It is especially tranquil and was once the garden of a private residence. Parque de la Constitución is one of the most visited parks in Marbella. The park has an amphitheatre that is ocassionally used for outdoor concerts and plays in the summer season, the anphitheatre is beautiful example of traditional Andalucian architecture.

EU Driving Licences

EU citizens are allowed to use their home country drivers' licenses while on holidays in Spain, residents have two options. Once you become a resident in Spain, you can head to your provincial traffic headquarters and apply for a new Spanish version (at a cost of 26 euros) or you can continue driving with your EU license.

Casa de las Torres

The house is a remarkable building that owes its name to the strong towers of its main façade, a great sample of Plateresque composition from the year 1520. Originally a medieval palace, built by Constable Ruy López Dávalos, it has undergone various changes in its construction over the centuries. /p>
