Mountain Biking

Mountain biking and cycling are viewed as both serious sports and a relaxing pastime in Andalucia. It is not unusual to be overtaken by a group of lycra-clad cyclists tackling the steep mountain roads, particularly at weekends.

Hostals and Guesthouses in Carboneras

Carboneras is an advantageous position due to its close proximity to both the beach and the Nature Park of Cabo de Gata-Níjar. There are a number of hostals (Spanish guesthouses, often family-run) that provide a cheaper alternative to the hotels in the area.

Marbella Mosque

This beautiful Arabian temple overlooks the golden mile just to the west of the city centre (towards San Pedro). It was the first Mosque constructed in Spain since the Christian re-conquest in the fifteenth century. It was built in 1981 by then Prince Salmán bin Abdulaziz in honour of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saúd of Saudi Arabia.

There are numerous associations of gay and lesbians in Andalucia. The largest and most well known, Colega, has offices in every provincial capital and is represented in many other towns and cities as well. Palacio del Deán Ortega

The palace was ordered to be built by Fernando Ortega Salido, Dean of the Catedral de Málaga and Cantor of the Real Colegiata Iglesia de Santa María de los Reales Alcázares and first Chaplain of the Sacra Capilla del Salvador.

Cueva Virués-Martínez

This cave, which was recently discovered, is notable for the exceptional state of preservation of its Neolithic funerary archaeological record.

Joselito Ortega

Playa de Guadalmina

It lies just to the east of the Guadalmina River, and bounds the Guadalmina Urbanisation of Marbella it is close to the Hotel Guadalmina Golf and Spa Resort. If you fancy a cultural break from the sun and sea whilst you are there, you can visit the nearby Roman Baths: Las Bovedas. just behind its eastern end of the beach by Arroyo de Chopo.

This three-star hotel is located in the city centre of Jaén and features a roof terrace with views over the cathedral. You can’t miss it, as the name is written in huge letters across the façade.

This is a cylindrical watchtower from the Moorish period with a circular base and a diameter of 3.95 metres.

Lola Flores

Lola Flores was born María de los Dolores Flores Ruiz in Jerez de la Frontera on January 21st, 1923. Her family were poor and from as young as ten she would earn a few pesetas pocket money by singing in the local bars. At the age of fifteen, Lola was in a group with other artists who formed a variety show: "Mary Paz" and in 1940 she managed to convince her father to sell the bar he owned and move the family to Madrid.

Sunday Lunch

Whilst many tourists come to Spain for the tapas, tinto de verano, chorizo, gambas al ajillo and the never-ending supply of fish and seafood, others do not have the palate for pescado.
