Valentines Day - 14 February

Large and guarded greens at the Aloha Golf Course offer a good challenge and the varied vegetation makes each hole different. This is one of the best-known golf courses on the Costa del Sol, and it has benefited from improvements over recent years. Fairways have been replanted and the clubhouse and changing rooms refurbished.

Oria

Oria is home to numerous archaeological remains, the vestiges of its turbulent past, which accompany a varied landscape of green areas and rock forms at the edge of the Sierra de las Estancias. From here, there are unrivalled, spectacular views of the province of Almería. The town has around 2,250 inhabitants. Archaeological remains have been found in the well-known area of El Picacho.

Lucena

At first glance, Lucena appears to be composed entirely of furniture factories and retail outlets; however, the old town hosts many exquisite churches reflecting its importance in the Subbetica during the Baroque era, and encouraging visits by history lovers. The town has around 42, 500 inhabitants.

History of Santa Cruz de Marchena

Santa Cruz de Marchena originated in the Al-Andalus period. It was known as Haratalgima, which translates as “mosque district”, due to the location of the high mosque. Together with Bolodu, it made up the Area of Alboloduy. With the Christian conquest, it was one of the first mosques to turn to the Christian faith with the name of Santa Cruz (Holy Cross).

Huécija

Huécija is a typical alpujarreño village with notable features including the Convento de los Agustinos and its beautiful tower. It has about 480 inhabitants. The origin of the village’s name is not known with any certainty, however, it is thought to be either Latin or Arabic. During the Arab-Andalusi period, the town was called Guacimora, Güecixa and Güecija.

The story revolves around the illegal reclassification of a piece of land for use as a golf course and the action takes place in the (fictional) coastal town of Los Cipreses as well as in Granada, Madrid, London, the Cayman Islands and Seville. The story centers around the sale of a large piece of land by a local businessman.
