Hotels

Almanzora area is located in the northeast of the province between the areas of Los Vélez and the Sierra de los Fibrales. Is made up of 27 municipalities and it has a Mediterranean climate, the average temperature is 15 Cº. The area has cold winters with average minimum temperatures of 2ºC in the coldest months and maximum average temperatures of 13ºC.

Soportújar

This village, located in the Sierra Nevada National Park, has an important factor which distinguishes it from all the other Alpujarra villages: its altitude. This factor allows visitors to enjoy the majesty of the Sierra Nevada, and at the same time, get some great views of the Mediterranean Sea across the Valle de Órgiva.

Ermita de Santa Quiteria

The chapel dates to 1511 and is cited among the hermitages belonging to the Archpriesthood of Iznatoraf. It has a single nave and lacks architectural value, due to the numerous reforms that it has undergone. Located 3km from the town centre, in a place popularly known as “Cerrico Pelón”, off the J-6220.

El Gastor

The village of El Gastor is just off the main road north-west from Ronda to Algodonales and a few kilometres from Zahara de la Sierra. It is also known as the ‘Balcony of the White Villages’ because from the two mountain peaks in its municipality, El Algarín and Las Grajas, there are magnificent views of other little villages in the area and the surrounding countryside.

Festivals Beyond Andalucia

Spain is known world-wide as a country of many fiestas - festivals of religious fervour like Semana Santa (Easter Holy Week) and festivals of a more secular nature like winter carnivals. You can find celebrations for just about every taste if you travel far and wide enough in this country.

Coronavirus - Hospital Preparations

Andalucia government has approved two plans to be prepared deal with peaks of 4.500 Coronavirus patients in Andalucia. Steps are now being taken to identify and ‘medicalize' hotels.

Gobernador

Gobernador is a village in Granada province located at 1,000m altitude. Gobernador also has archaeological remains from Roman and Arabic times. The town is close to the Genil and Guadiana Menor rivers, and is situated at around 1000m above sea level. After the Reconquest, the town became the property of Governor Don Francisco de Molino, after whom Gobernador was eventually named.

Navahermosa

Navahermosa is a small hamlet tucked away in the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, belonging to the municipality of Galaroza.It is ideal for lovers of rural tourism, especially hikers, with routes of varying steepness surrounded by beautiful countryside. It has around 60 inhabitants.

Sendero Pinar de Cánava

Duration: 45 min. Length: 1470 m. Difficulty: Medium. The route and can be accessed by the “Cordel del Gollizno” cattle route that starts from the vicinity of the Ermita de Cánava.

Puerto Serrano

Puerto Serrano is a farming town in undulating countryside on the north-western edge of the Sierra de Cadiz. The town is situated just off the Seville to Ronda road, close to the border with Seville province, but is easily overlooked by those en route to either town. It is the starting point of the well-known Via Verde de la Sierra, a popular hiking and cycling route.

The Ancient City of Acinipo

The ruins of this 32 hectare city are located at 1.000m above sea level. This is an urban are that thrived in the first century AD when it had a population of 5.000. It was mentioned in Plini and, inscriptions to Geninn Oppidi, to the god Marse and to Victoria Augusta have been found. The city even minted its own money, which features bunches of grapes.

The Tourist Office of Berja is located in the Torre de los Enciso, Calle Agua, 18, opening from Monday to Friday.

Vandelvira restaurant in Baeza

The World Heritage Site of Baeza’s historic quarter is probably one of the least- known in Andalucia, due to less-than-ideal transport links. In a converted 16 th -century Franciscan convent in Jaén city.
