Marbella - Costa del Sol Hospital

The Costa del Sol Hospital on the main A-7 coast road 7km east of Marbella center, is one of the best-equipped hospitals in Spain. Inaugurated in December 1993, the hospital is run by an independent company on behalf of the (SAS) Andalucian Health Authorities intil 2023. It was set up as a pilot scheme to improve the efficiency and quality of services, under a modern structure or organisation.

History

The oldest evidence of human presence locally is the cave paintings of the Navalcán enclave, dated to the Copper Age. Between the end of the War of Granada in 1492 and the early sixteenth century, the lands surrounding today’s Noalejo were “entredichos”, or intermediate territorial bands not belonging to any specific municipality.

San Pablo de Buceite

This lovely Andalusian village is located in Cádiz province in the area known as the “Campo de Gibraltar”. It is in the northwestern part of the Jimena de Libar municipality and claims to have more hours of sunshine than any other town in the province of Cádiz: 2,600 hours per year. Combine this with the ideal mix of subtropical and Mediterranean seaboard climate and you have a perfect place to visit or live.

An increasing number of people are either bringing their pets with them when they move to Spain, or else acquiring them here, reassured by the fact that, if they have to move for any reason, their pet doesn't have to be left behind.

Tourist Office in Tíjola

The Tourist Office is located in the Centro de Interpretación Valle de Almanzora Agua, opening from Monday to Friday.

Zagra

Zagra is a village in Granada province and an important archaeological site. Numerous remains from the Prehistoric, Neolithic and Roman era have been discovered here.

Estepa

Estepa is famous for two very different reasons. Chiefly it is renowned for the biscuits known as polvorones and mantecados which bakers make each Christmas and are traditionally eaten across this region of Andalucía. Its other claim to fame is a grisly mass suicide 2,200 years ago.

Dama de Noche Golf Course

This course was for the true golfing addicts and insomniacs: a 24-hour golfing paradise, the first in Europe. It took its name from the plant whose intoxicating nocturnal fragrance keeps some of the mosquitoes away. The lighting was system is designed to cast no shadows thus giving daylight quality and maximum visibility.

Starlite Festival 2019

The Starlite Festival is a month-long music and cultural event held in July / August at the Cantera de Nagüeles, in Marbella. It is now established as one of the important annual social and entertainment events in Spain.

Sierro

Sierro sits in a small corner of the Almerian mountain range. The traces of previous ages are captured in its well-preserved streets, which are so narrow that cars cannot pass. This means that the village is entirely pedestrianised, with breathable air free from pollution. It has around 380 inhabitants.

Insólito, an ambitious new project from Green Cow Music, the company behind the Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest, will bring the city of Seville even more alive between September and May with culture, music, humour and poetry.

Cazorla

Cazorla is steeped in tradition. Its origins stretch back six centuries before Christ, although it was officially founded by the Romans, who named it Carcesa. Its splendour grew under Moorish and then Christian control.
