Andalucia people, both those native to this region and those who have a relationship with southern Spain. From Roman emperors to Moorish caliphs and poets, from movie stars to models, singers, dancers and authors, the names and faces do much to tell the story of Andalucia.
The Nerja Tourist Office is located in Calle Carmen 1, Nerja. It is open Monday to Sunday 10:00 to 14:00 hrs. The staff are helpful. There is a pad of Nerja town maps on the counter, help yourself to one if the office is busy.
Festivals in Nerja: Three Kings (5th January), Carnival (Feb), Semana Santa (March/April), San Isidro (15th May), San Juan, (23/24 June), Virgin del Carmen (16th July), Feria (Second week in October Thur to Sun/Mon).
Torremolinos is embellished with artistes from all occupations, and some of the most celebrated of them, as well as the eccentric and the notorious, have lived, or stayed, in the town at some point during their lives. The famous faces of Torremolinos are closely related to Torremolinos History.

Torremolinos has long had a vibrant gay scene and it has always been one of the most openly gay-friendly towns in Spain. Even during the years of dictatorship, the town flourished as a destination for the liberally minded and the animated gay scene thrived at a time when Franco frowned on blatantly non-Catholic activities.
We offer selected guided tours to walk the Caminito del Rey with transport from Marbella, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Malaga or Nerja. These are ideal if you do not have a hire car since getting there by train or bus is limited.
The official starting point of the Camino de Rey access path is on the country road MA-444 (which branches off the MA-5403 6km east of Ardales) just south where it crosses over the Conde de Guadalhorce Dam by the Sillon del Rey (King's seat) a stone seat where King Alfonso XIII signed off the dam in 1926, It is near a popular roadside restaurant called "El Kiosko".
Arte Sano Festival was the biggest free alternative festival on the Costa del Sol, and took place on the last weekend in July on San Pedro Alcántara seafront from about 2004 to 2019. It was cancelled in 2020 for Covid and never restarted.
Duquesa is on the Estepona to La Linea (for Gibraltar) bus route. Consult bus timetables on our La Linea and Estepona bus station pages. Estepona to La Linea takes one and a half hours. Duquesa is 20mins from Estepona and one hour from La Linea.
La Marisma is the name of a 'comarca' (region or area) in the south west of the province of Seville. It is made up from 4 municipal districts and other small villages.
La Vega is the name of a 'comarca' (region or area) in the north to north east of the province of Seville. It is made up from 12 municipal districts and even more small villages.
The Metropolitan Area is the name of a 'comarca' (region or area) in the centre of the province of Seville. It is made up from 3 municipal districts and other small villages.
To visit Gaucin from the Costa del Sol, turn inland at Sabinillas (A7 km145), go up the A377 and drive past Manilva and the AP7 motorway toll exit and the turning for Casares. The road skirts Sierra Crestelina and then drops steeply down to cross the River Genal before the long windy climb up to the village.
The small tourist office is located near the petrol station, on the road leading into the village from the A-369; it also houses the Museo Etnografia.
The River Andarax flows into the Mediterranean sea at the city of Almeria. Inland from Almeria city there are a number of villages that occupy land on the flatter and fertile soil that is not found in the surrounding mountains. Most of the village which are grouped within the Comarca of Cabo de Gata are of little interest to tourists, however Los Millares is Europe´s largest Bronze Age settlement.
