Golf

Golfing in Puerto de Santa Maria may be slightly different to other places in Andalucia just because it might be a more tranquil 18 holes. The Costa Ballena Golf course for example is relatively unknown, at least compared to Golf Courses on the Costa del Sol in more touristic places such as Marbella.

Marbella Club Golf Resort

In a magnificent setting near Benahavís, surrounded by pine and oak trees, this course is used exclusively by guests staying at the Marbella Club and Puente Romano Hotels, only 20 minutes away. Designed by Dave Thomas it enjoys wonderful views of the mountains and the Mediterranean, and on a clear day Gibraltar and the African coast are clearly visible.

Flamingos Golf at Villa Padierna Golf Club

Los Flamingos Golf has pitched its green fee price at the exclusive end of the range. It is a par 71 golf course. Situated between El Paraíso, Monte Mayor and the Marbella Club Resort, Los Flamingos takes its name from the Los Famencos lake around which Chamberlain & Turner have laid out their 18-hole design. A second Four Seasons Resort is planned to provide accommodation for visiting golfers.

Pets

Walk of the Thirsty Bear

This tremendously varied walk makes for a great full day excursion. Leaving the pretty village of La Iruela you first climb up past the Alberquilla spring before contouring round the northern flank of the Escribano.

Walking

The landscapes of rural Andalucía are breathtaking and one of the best ways to appreciate their diversity and beauty is on foot. However it is sometimes hard to determine exactly where a path is located and if there is a public right of way. There are designated footpaths, as well as those inside the national and natural parks.

Boat & Ferry Rides

Some companies offer luxury yacht and boat hire, a luxury sailing concierge, who can arrange almost everything from sunset cruises with fine dining to trips to Morocco and Portugal. All in all it's great to see Andalucia from the sea.

Aquarium Roquetas del Mar

This aquarium is a place for entertainment, leisure and education. The design of the Aquarium represents the water cycle and it is divided into different rooms: The Tropics, The Ocean and The Mediterranean.

Water Parks

The parks have a variety of zones: high-adrenalin water slides including Kamikaze (very steep, almost vertical) and Black Hole (covered tube); multi-lane slides where you can race against your friends; children's areas with shallow pools featuring mini-slides and fun activities; and, increasingly, parks also feature more relaxing wave pools with beaches, lagoons, and even jacuzzis.

Barbate Beaches

The municipality of Barbate boasts some of the most beautiful beaches on the Costa de la Luz inlcuding los Caños de Meca and Zahara de los Atunes. The golden sand of Playa de Zahora stretches from Playa del Palmar to the Trafalgar lighthouse at the Cabo Trafalgar. The beach is flat and rocky but protected from the strong winds in this area making it popular with those who enjoy swimming in the sea.
