monumental day tour of seville from THE costa del sol
Spend a whole day in Seville, even if you're staying on the Costa del Sol. This city never fails to impress visitors, with every corner and every step. Everywhere you look there is a plaza, a church, a palace... all imbued with the scent of orange blossom and jasmine. Plus you can marvel at the splendid UNESCO-rated monumental complex, which consists of three historic buildings.
Seville Cathedral is one of the biggest in the world, and within it is The Giralda tower, icon of the city, and the ‘Patio de los Naranjos’, a Moorish courtyard full of orange trees. The Alcázar of Seville, located next to the district of Santa Cruz – the old Jewish Quarter of the city – is a luxurious palace comprised of exquisitely tiled chambers, dazzling patios and grandiose gardens. The General Archive of the Indies is a well-known renaissance building where important archives about the New World are stored.
Other noteworthy places are the parks and riverside terraces. The Maria Luisa Park is a historic garden which celebrates its centenary in 2014, with a great variety of flora, pretty boulevards, ponds, delicias (small squares) and arbours. A must-see is the Museum of Fine Art, considered the second-most important art gallery in Spain. Seville also has many churches and convents that are worth visiting. Enjoy one of the most spectacular cities in Spain on a day-trip from the Costa del Sol!
