Chipiona Beaches

Chipiona boasts some beautiful beaches, frequented by many people living in and around Seville. However, due government funding, the area is gradually opening up to international tourism. Monitjo beach is located just west of the Punta de Montijo. The sandy beach is quite pebbly in areas, with lots of seashells around for those into beach combing.

Estepona Gourmet Market

The Gourmet Market repoened on 20th March 2024 as a new 'gastronomic and social space' housing five different restaurants (with take away service) offering menus from 17€ to 25€. There are also six stalls (shops) selling select gourmet products.

La Liga Football is a favourite spectator sport in Andalucia amongst a huge number of British and Spanish like. The foreign influence has increased the popularity of football over the years and there are usually local matches, where you can support or even join the team.

Marbella Fútbol Club

The local football team is Marbella Fútbol Club. It was founded in 1997 following the collapse of Club Athletico Marbella which was owned by Jesus Gil. The new club was initially called Unión Deportiva Marbella and renamed in 2013 to appeal to a wider international fan base.

Granada Football Club

Granada Club de Fútbol, formerly known as Recreativo de Granada, is a Spanish football club based in Granada city. Founded in April 1931, their first president was Julio López Fernández. In the season of 1941-42, Granada became the third Andalucian football team (after Sevilla and Real Betis) to compete in La Liga (Spanish first division). Their home matches are played at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes, which seats up to 22, 500 spectators.

Estadio Municipal Marbella

Marbella Fútbol Club home games were played at the Estadio Municipal de Marbella, a 9,000 capacity stadium. However the stadium was old and is earmarked for demolition. It will be replaced by a new stadium with an investment of around 115 million euro facility for the 2025/6 season.

Malaga Football Club

Atlético Malagueño was founded in 1948 and it was much later, in 1994 that it became Malaga C.F. (Club de Fútbol). It was originally set up to train players for the first team and for this purpose it was affiliated with Club Deportivo Malaga. The home stadium,

Sierra Mágina Natural Park

The rugged Sierra Mágina Natural Park covers 19,900ha of rocky, steep limestone terrain, with precipitous cliffs and high summits that are often snow-capped in winter. Evocatively named by the Moors as the mountain of the spirits, the Sierra has a fascinating history glimpsed in its prehistoric cave paintings and defensive architecture built by warring Christians and Muslims. In the 10th century it harboured Moorish rebel leaders and much later, bandits. Its remote corners also provided a refuge for bears, wolves and the pardel lynx.

Iglesia de Santo Domingo Guzmán - Torres

The church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán was built between the 16th and 17th centuries in the Renaissance style.  On closer inspection, there are features that show that it also departed from pure classicism to merge with popular forms of construction. 

Torres

30 kilometres east of the city of Jaén, within the Sierra de Mágina mountain range, lies Torres. Torres is a village with a rich historical heritage. It features traditional Andalucian architecture with whitewashed houses and charming courtyards. There are many walking routes around the village.

Iglesia del Santo, Torres

The Iglesia del Santo, also known as the Ermita de Santo, is a small church in the centre of Torres, built in stone and plastered and painted white in the traditional way, with decorative corners that reveal the stonework.

Fuengirola Buses

The bus station in Fuengirola is located in the town centre, on Calle Jacinto Benavente, just one road away from the train station. From here you can take buses along the Costa del Sol, west to Algeciras and east to Malaga.

Roman Lacipo, Casares

After one and a half kilometres west from Casares (MA-528) at the junction on the A-377 Manilva - Gaucin road a small track oposite can be seen. This was once the main route to Jimena de la Frontera and San Martin. Those who have no objection to a bumpy ride can still use it.
