GLBT Events and festivals

The first big GLBT event of the year in Torremolinos is the Gala Drag Queen del Carnival Gay, which is held on the first weekend in March.
This colorful drag queen gala, organized by the ACOGAT, gay merchants association of Torremolinos, contains all of the sequined outrageousness associated with the world of drag.
The town hosts its Gay Pride celebration at the beginning of June and this is fast becoming one of Andalusia's most popular gay gatherings.
Thousands of people converge on the town to enjoy four-days of constant partying, when the streets are filled with colourful parades and carnival-style floats of every design imaginable.
At the end of June, Torremolinos celebrates the Wonder Beach Festival, a gay music festival that takes place at various locations along the beaches of Playamar and Bajondillo.
During the second week of August the town holds the Mad Bear Festival.
This event is the most important gay-bear celebration in Europe and attracts people from Britain, Italy, Germany and Russia.
