First published by Heinemann in 1904, this is one of Somerset Maugham's lesser known works.

It is, nevertheless, a perceptive account of his travels through Andalucia in the early part of the 20th Century.

As he travels from Ronda to Granada, via Seville and Cordoba, he provides a fascinating account of the towns, their monuments and fiestas and their people.

Essential reading for those with an interest in an account of his travels through Spain in the last century by one of England's greatest writers.
