The Pompidou Centre

Opened on 28 March 2015, the Pop-Up Pompidou is housed in El Cubo, a cuboid glass structure in Malaga port, and buildings next to it. It received 76 thousand visitors in the first three months. The 6000m2 centre has 80 works, with two or three annual exhibitions lasting 3-6 months during the next five years.

Joan Hunt

The founder of Cudeca, Joan Hunt, who died in 2021 at the age of 92, was one of the most inspirational pioneers in the field of palliative care in Southern Spain. She arrived in Málaga in 1984 with the idea of retiring with her husband, Fred, but unbeknown to her at that time, this would be the beginning of a new era for both Joan and the Costa del Sol.

Peligros

Peligros was very important during the Nasrid dynasty (13th-15th centuries) and for the first few years after the Christian re-conquest, supplying Granada City with many agricultural products. Today, it is home to families who work in the provincial capital. The town is located in the north of the Granada valley and is surrounded by orchards and groves.

Juviles

Situated among chestnut forests, in the highest region of the Alpujarra, Juviles is a small village with links to the past and an air of tranquillity. The most important archaeological remains here are those of an old castle known as El Fuerte. It is a Mozarabic fortress built at the turn of the eighth century. Inside you can still see some old wells, while outside, you can enjoy panoramic views of nature in its purest state: the Taha de Juviles.

Paterna de Rivera

Sitting in the centre of the province of Cadiz, Paterna de Rivera is at the crossroads of the Ruta del Toro. Connecting Medina Sidonia to the south-west with Alcalá de los Gazules to the east, and Jerez de la Frontera to the north with Los Barrios to the south, this ‘route of the bulls’ runs through some of the most beautiful undulating countryside of Andalucia.

Via Verde of Olive Oil

This vía verde (greenway) covers 55km between Jaen and the Guadajoz river, where it joins the Vía Verde of the Subbética. It is suitable for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users. This greenway follows part of the 120km-long Jaen-Puente Genil railway line used for transporting olive oil from the late 19th century onwards, linking Jaen with Malaga and Algeciras and opening up the market for oil.
