Golfer - Miguel Angel Jimenez Golf Academy

Fifth of seven brothers, Miguel Ángel left school at 15 and worked in a garage and then at Torrequebrada Golf Club collecting golf balls on the driving range and as a caddie. After watching his idol Seve Ballesteros in the Spanish Open at Torrequebrada in 1979, Miguel Ángel was inspired to take up the game himself, turning professional in 1982.

With 23 Tour victories by the end of 2015 Miguel Ángel holds the record as the Oldest Winner on the European Tour at 50 years and 133 days when he won the Open de Espana in May 2014.

Hotel Reina Cristina

The proudest hotel in the city of Algeciras is the Hotel Reina Cristina. Kings and Queens have stayed there. So have statesmen such as Churchill and Roosevelt and film stars like Rock Hudson and Deborah Kerr. Hotel Reina Cristina was opened in 1901 and the building includes ancient ruins. There are parts of an 8th-Century Mosque and a Moorish well. The hotel is next to Algeciras Port. The beach is 10 minutes drive away.

Andalucia GDP

The GDP (PIB Producto Interior Bruto in Spanish) is a measure of the total market value of all the goods and services produced by a country in a given period. GDP is widely used by economists to gauge the health of an economy, as its variations are relatively quickly identified. However, its value as an indicator for the standard of living is considered to be limited.

Polopos

Polopos is formed by various different areas: Castillo de Baños, La Mamola, Haza del Lino, Haza del Trigo, La Guapa and Polopos. The first two are located on the coast: one on a plain known as Puerta de Baños and the other at the foot of a hill topped with a watchtower; the others are located inland.

There is a bus service line 0111 from Granada to Peligros. The bus calls at Poligono Asegra, Urbinazacion La Joya, Pelegros (centre) Vista Alegrenaz.

Roquetas de Mar

Roquetas de Mar is a fishing town just 15 minutes by car from the provincial capital, Almería. It is famed not only for its fishing traditions, which are preserved today through gastronomy and annual festivals, but also as a coastal resort town. It has around 94,900 inhabitants.

Santa Clara Golf

This commercial course with little rough has been well-designed by Enrique Canales so that wide fairways alternate with long par-3s and challenging drives over water hazards. A plush clubhouse frequented by the only entirely female team of caddy masters on the coast.

Just seven kilometres north of Nerja is the typical pueblo blanco of Frigiliana which sits high on a mountain ridge overlooking the sea with spectacular panoramic views. it is often voted the 'prettiest village in Andalucía'.

Carrera Del Darro, Granada City

Now we are ready to take one of the most picturesque and romantic walks in Spain, along the Carrera del Darro, the cobble-stoned street which over hangs the river and which was once one of Granada´s main arteries, leading to the vanished gate of Guadix and, from there, to the town of that name in northeastern Andalucia. First we pass old Granada´s last remaining arched bridges.

Huércal de Almería

Huércal de Almería formed part of the municipal district of Almería until the nineteenth century, but today it is an important industrial centre in the Andarax Valley. It has about 17,418 inhabitants. During the Islamic period, the municipality of Almería coincided with the older community in the region. Both were limited by the sea and the surrounding rivers.

Necropolis Prehistorica de Corominas

Inside five small dolmens (standing stones) can be viewed. They are original and date from about 3,000 BC. Also on display are a number of pottery vessels, stone tools, arrowheads, axes, personal ornaments, necklace beads made of semi-precious stones and perforated seashells. The skulls and skeletons and other bones on display are reproductions as the originals are preserved.

San Pedro Feria 2024

The summer feria in San Pedro de Alcantara, Marbella, it is traditionally held on the third week of October from a Monday or Tuesday to a Sunday to coincide with the Saint’s feast day.

Casariche

Many important historical events have occurred in Casariche. There was, for example, a civil war between the citizens of Pompey and Cesar. And numerous archaeological remains have been found in the town, linking its origins back to Celtic times. It has about 5,500 inhabitants.

Faro Airport

Like neighbouring Andalucia, the Algarve region of southern Portugal is popular for year-round holidays, thanks to its mild, sunny climate. Its centrally-situated capital, Faro, is a popular tourist destination, and its airport is the most important in the Algarve, serving the entire region. It is a modern airport with excellent facilities.

Gérgal

Gérgal is home to an interesting castle, constructed in the Lombard style, which dominates the slopes and terraces of the village and, despite being built in the sixteenth century, remains in good condition today. The village has about 1000 inhabitants.
