Hostals & Hostels

Take me to Hostals & Hostels Home

If you're looking for basic, central accommodation in Torremolinos, there is an increasing number of welcoming hostals in the town, especially in Calle del Peligro, which is just a short stroll from the Bajondillo beach. Some of them even have a sea view.

These hostals and guesthouses provide a warm welcome to both young and old travellers, tourists and holiday makers at a much cheaper price. A lot of them are family-run which can also add a bit of atmosphere to the place.

In one of the liveliest areas around 24 hour square and Calle las Mercedes there are also many hostels but, be warned, some will necessitate earplugs on a summer Saturday night. Listed below are some of our suggestions.

Hostels in Torremolinos

A HOSTEL in Spain is similar to what you would find in a 'hostal' in most parts of the world - the opportunity to stay in shared dorms at a budget price. These are often social hubs among travelers and backpackers, with common rooms and, at times, cheap bars making them excellent places to meet new people or find another travel companion. Many hostels also have private or family rooms available.

A HOSTAL (also known as a guest house) provides basic accommodation at a reasonable price and a smaller (than hotel) private room. Hostals are common in Spain and display a 'H' with a small 's' sign at the door with one or two stars. They are exempt from providing many of the facilities that a hotel must provide. Many in larger towns occupying a floor of a building or in villages and smaller towns are often located in traditional buildings. They are often family run. There must be en-suite toilets (but not bathrooms) in all rooms. A 2-star hostal must also have public toilets and must have an elevator.

A PENSION display a 'P' sign at the door with no star classification. These offer accommodation without need to offer any complimentary service such as refreshments. Pensiones have lesser requirements than a Hostal. There is no elevator requirement. The toilets and bathrooms may be outside the bedroom but there must be one bathroom for every five bedrooms. They must still provide a cleaning service and heating but not air conditioning.
