Antequera Golf Course
Antequera offers an 18-hole course that stretches over 50 hectares in a natural landscape. Nestled between the Sierra del Torcal and the Vega de Antequera, the course brings natural and technical challenges for nature lovers. It was designed in 2003 by Ryder Cup player José Mª Cañizares.
At over 6,000 metres, the course is characterised by fairways lined with olive trees. It is surrounded by a rich variety of Mediterranean flora, such as lavender, thyme, rosemary, pine trees, and fruit orchards.
Antequera Golf is home to a selection of memorable and challenging holes. Some of the most emblematic are:
- Hole 3: The most difficult on the course, it demands precision. However, it offers a rewarding view of a lake directly in front of it, which adds a scenic element to the difficulty.
- Hole 6: From the tee, players can enjoy panoramic views of the Vega de Antequera and the Peña de los Enamorados, making it a challenging and visually impressive hole.
- Hole 13: With two strategically placed lakes, this hole evokes memories of the famous water hazards watched in the film Happy Gilmore.
- Hole 14: A hole for long hitters, but only for those with experience. It offers a spectacular view of the Torcal de Antequera, so it is not only a test of skill but also an extraordinary visual experience.
Facilities include a clubhouse, practice areas, and a restaurant, making it suitable for day visits or longer stays. The course is also renowned for its environmentally sustainable practices.
