Concordia
Marbella based charity association helping AIDS sufferers on the Costa del Sol formed in 1994, the inspiration of Chello Mas Montorio and Baroness Elinee Vittinghof-Schell. The original Concordia Day was opened in San Pedro Alcantara on April 1997. The Centre moved to new premises in 2003 also in San Pedro to calle Carlota Navarrete, nº 21. It is now the focal point of AIDS care in this part of the coast and has one full time and one part time employees and is helped by a host of international volunteers, AIDS sufferers and their families.
As with all non-governmental organisations, funding is always a problem, so Concordia raises money throughout the year with events that include an annual summer Gala, a Flag Day on International Aids Day on 1st December, and an annual magazine. In June 1999, Concordia received the prestigious Premio Promocio de la Salud award for services to humanity from the Colegio Oficial de Medicos de la Provincia de Malaga in recognition of the world the association does with respect to AIDS prevention and education.
