Puerta de Purchena

The Puerta de Purchena where the old Pechina gateof the city walls stood. Its name was altered after the Christian Reconquest by a transcription error, confusing the names of twoAlmeria towns, Pechina (an important city named Bayyana in the Muslim era) and Purchena. The puerta was located here as the natural entrance to the city from the western side.

History of La Tahá

Adoption

Ermita de Mondújar

Erected at the beginning of the sixteenth century, the Mudejar-style chapel dedicated to San Antonio was most likely built on the remains of an old Muslim mosque, and of which only the masonry walls are preserved today along with the arch of the entrance door surmounted by a cornice.

Benalmadena - Watchtowers

Malaga Airport Train Station

The RENFE Train Station at Málaga Airport is on-site to take passengers to and from the airport with trains leaving every 20 minutes for Málaga City or Fuengirola in the out of town direction.  The Fuengirola train stops at Torremolinos and Benalmádena as well..

The Palladium Club

One of the town's oldest clubs, which has been renamed and revamped several times since it first opened in the '80s, is The Palladium Club. This huge night club has two dance floors, a VIP area, several resident DJs playing techno house, and the best party atmosphere on offer in the area.

History of Bérchules

The origin of the name Bérchules is believed to be derived from the Arabic 'berchul', meaning 'vergél' (garden), possibly due to the abundance of springs, fertile lands and pleasant temperatures, despite the town being situated at an altitude of over 1,300 metres and close to the perpetual snows of the Sierra Nevada.

Aljibe Almohade

The Aljibe is situated in the Ancient Alcazaba of Aryuna, just below what might have been the Great Mosque in Islamic times. The cistern was built at the beginning of the twelfth century, the work of the Almohades. Located in Plaza Santa María.

Estepona Mural - Llegando a tu destino

Llegando a tu destino (Arriving at your destination) is a mural by DOURONE. The artists are Fabio López (Madrid) and Elodie Arshak (Francia). Their artistic name Dourone was created when Fabio began to create graffiti in 1999 and joined up with Elodieloll in 2012. The mural is located on extention of Avenida San Lorenzo 17. This mural was included in the in the 'Inaugural International Mural Competition of Estepona - 2017'.

Beach Rules

In 1982 the Direction General de Puertos y Costas (a national agency to oversee ports and coastline) ruled that all beaches in Spain should be public and removed the concept of a private beach. The laws relating to what you can and can not do on the beach stem from the 1988 and 2014 Ley de Costas which defines the public nature of the beach that can not be sealed of off for a private use.

Marmolejo

Marmolejo is popular with travellers who enjoy rural and active tourism. It is also home to one of Andalusia’s many spas, and part of its lands are at the foot of Sierra Morena, within the protected area that makes up the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, an ideal enclave for sports such as hiking. It has about 6,760 inhabitants.
