Tourist Office in Arcos de la Frontera

The tourist office is conveniently located on Calle Cuesta de Belén, 5 which is the road you are likely to walk up, having parked you car in the underground car park at Paseo Andalucia, on you way to the Plaza del Cabildo, following the 'Ruta Monumental'

Hotels in Arcos de la Frontera

Many hotel rooms in Arcos have magnificent views; some of the best are rooms and terrace from the Parador and the rooftop terrace at La Casa Grande. Hotels in the old town offer a magnificent location for walking around and taking in the village atmosphere, however parking can be challenging. There is limited parking in Plaza del Cabildo, or better at in the underground car park, at the entrance of the old town near Plaza de Espana access from Paseo de Andalucia.

La Cola de Embalse de Arcos Natural Area

This embalse (reservoir), close to the hilltop town of Arcos de la Frontera, is worth a visit for its waterfowl, particularly in winter when there are many more birds here. It is also a stopping place for migratory birds. The area covers 120ha and includes the reservoir and small surrounding area.

Iglesia Parroquial de San Idelfonso

The church, built in 1522 on a former mosque site, was renovated over the 16th–17th centuries. Its main altarpiece was crafted by Tomás Morales, and a 17th-century crucifix by José de Mora was later moved to the Church of Peligros.

Begíjar

Begíjar is dominated by olive groves and orchards; this town’s traditions have largely been lost over time, especially following the damage caused during the Spanish Civil War. It has about 3,000 inhabitants.

Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol

Construction of the church began in thirteenth century and was completed in the seventeenth, although the original building has practically disappeared as a result of multiple restorations.

San Pedro Feria 2024

The summer feria in San Pedro de Alcantara, Marbella, it is traditionally held on the third week of October from a Monday or Tuesday to a Sunday to coincide with the Saint’s feast day.

PP - Partido Popular

Juan Manuel Moreno, 55, was also fighting his first Andalucia election. Juan Manuel was born in Alhaurin el Grande and emigrated to Cataluña with his family as an infant. He returned to study psychology at Malaga University. He became a PP councilor in Malaga town hall in 1995 and an Andalucia parliamentarian the following year.

Podemos

Podemos (which translate as ‘We Can') is the left-wing political party which was founded in 2014 by Pablo Iglesias, formerly a lecturer of political science at the Computense University of Madrid and currently a MEP. Podemos originated out of the 2011 and 2012 Spanish protest movement against inequality and corruption called ‘Indignados'.

IULV - Izquierda Unida Los Verdes

In June 2013 Antonio Maillo (49, Lucena Cordoba) became the Coordinator General of the IULV-CA replacing Diego Valverde. The party was formed in 1984 with the objective to transform Andalucia into a left-wing alternative. It has 10,000 militants and more than 1000 local council members with 86 mayors.
