SHOPPING

The principal shopping streets are the narrow pedestrianized streets of Concepción, Palacio, Pérez Carasa and Berdigón and the roads leading off this main drag. Sara Merino has a good selection of dresses for special occasions.

For flamenco gear, visit La Fábrica de Flamenco on Calle La Palma, while Simón Vidosa on Calle José Nogales has all the matching accessories, including pretty shawls and smart sombreros (hats).

On Plaza de España, at the eastern end of Alameda Sundheim, is a shopping centre with El Corte Inglés (Centro Comercial Costa Luz, Av Alcalde Federico Molina, 1, 21003 Huelva. Tel: 959 282 000. Open Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 22:00 hrs) and Hipercor department stores. More>

El Carmen market is a lively feast for the eyes, particularly its huge "pescadería" section with much of its fresh shellfish and fish caught locally. You can also buy ham and pork products from the Sierra de Aracena to the north of Huelva.

On Friday there is a big market just south of the centre, near the Muelle de Riotinto, at the Recinto Colombino.

Shopping Centres

On the outskirts of Huelva, off the H-30 at junction 10C, there is a large shopping centre, called La Holea, with all the well known brands as well as many others. It has plenty of free parking as well as a food court, cinema and large supermarket. More shopping Centres>
